MATH CURRICULUM

Our math curriculum is structured by the California content standards for Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Probability and Statistics. California content standards were approved by the state Department of Education. They explicitly state concepts and skills that students must learn in each subject area. Our math program has practice problems and lessons for each standard in the subjects we cover. We also have tests that mirror CSTs, which test for knowledge of the standards.

Quizzes

Quizzes are where most of the learning takes place. The quiz mode makes use of Verified Learning, which permutes problems and keeps students on a concept until it is mastered. Students spend time where they need it most and work at their own pace. Because of this, no two students navigate their way identically through our content. XLPrep also offers a solution strategy with each problem. After the student answers a question, a step-by-step strategy for answering that type of question is given. If the student gets the answer wrong, a new permuted version of the problem is given allowing the student to try the problem again after having read the strategy. The strategy and new permutations of the problem will be given until the student gets the correct answer. This ability to provide constant direction and feedback while continually supplying fresh material makes XLPrep.com effective and unique.

The navigation bar on the left of the screen allows students to pick the content standards they work on. The amount of time on each problem is displayed on the upper right:

Lessons

Lessons are like an online text book with content standards as the subject headings. Students can scroll through the pages and learn concepts at their own rate. The time spent on each page is measured to give teachers and parents an idea of how much time is spent studying.

Tests

Two tests modeled after math CSTs can be taken before and after students study with the lessons and quizzes. Tests can be started and stopped to allow students to take a break. If given under simulated test conditions, these tests can provide valuable information on how well students will perform on test day.
